Graduate students

For those who have never been to Finland before, the excitement of living and studying in a brand new atmosphere can be truly overwhelming. However, this also means leaving your families and friends behind, and trying to adapt to an entirely different environment. To make the transition a lot smoother and to make living and studying in Finland more enjoyable, Tsemppi is here for almost anything both new and old  students have in mind. The connection works both ways, as we organize activities in which you are welcome to join along with your friends, whether or not they are fellow students. You are also welcome to run for a position on our Board or you can become an organizer for our current events and bring your own ideas for new ones.

For those of you who have just arrived, we have compiled a Survival Guide that can be found on our website. It lists much of the information you may need during your early months in the city and since it was created by people who have had similar experiences like yours in the beginning, we tried to emphasize issues usually overlooked by the others. A few weeks after the start of the academic year we organize an event called “Stories around the fire place” during which more experienced students talk about their experiences, both good and… less fortunate they have had while living and studying in Helsinki.

For our local Finnish friends and those international students who have already established themselves in Helsinki, we have a pub night once or twice a month, where you can come and meet fellow students and chat over a drink. We also organize events like board game nights and visits to various city attractions every once in a while.

We hope you have a great time here and look forward to seeing you at our events!
